These DIY gift boxes are so easy to decorate with washi tape! Make them for any occasion; they cost less than $1. So simple that kids can make them!
I frequently raid the dollar spot at Target. Are you familiar with those $1 bins toward the front of the store? I squeeze my cart up in there and start dumping everything into it.
Then I have to review it all, because otherwise I just spent 50 bucks on dollar items. You know how it goes – I can’t be the only one.
On this last visit I found some really good holiday items that I got very excited about, including pillow boxes (4 for $1) and glitter tape (1 roll for $1).
I combined these items with some stickers that I already had, and there you have it – glitter tape gift boxes for less than $1 each!
I got excited to fill these boxes with candy and give them to people that I don’t normally give presents to: my postman, landlord, neighbors . . . not that I don’t want to give them gifts, but the costs can add up. This is the perfect way to be able to give them a little something special without blowing the budget. Here’s how I did it.
Gather These Supplies
- Pillow boxes
- Glitter tape
- Stickers
- Scissors
- Candy to fill the boxes
Here are my supplies. If you don’t have stickers on hand, NBD – they have them in the dollar bins as well.
Choose your candy to put in your pillow boxes. I bought these Hershey’s Kiss Mint Truffles which was a BIG mistake. I ate a few too many while filling the boxes :0
Fold the pillow boxes up. You don’t need to worry about taping the ends.
Add your glitter tape long ways around the box, which keeps everything together. The glitter tape was repositionable, so that was nice!
Place your sticker on the front and that’s it! Not only do these gifts cost cents instead of dollars, but they also work up quickly. Happy holidays!
